The Ninth Annual Upper Peninsula High School Math Challenge was held from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. EST on Saturday 14 April 2018 at Northern Michigan University (Marquette Co, MI).

The contest was attended by 96 students on 24 teams representing the following 6 schools:

Munising Baptist School, Private (Alger Co, MI)
Escanaba Area Public High School, Escanaba Area Public Schools (Delta Co, MI)
A.D. Johnston Jr/Sr High School, Bessemer Area School District (Gogebic Co, MI)
Houghton Central High School, Houghton-Portage Township School District (Houghton Co, MI)
Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools, Lake Linden-Hubbell School District (Houghton Co, MI)
Ishpeming High School, Ishpeming Public School District No. 1 (Marquette Co, MI)

Part 1 consisted of ten individual problems. Each team earned a point on each problem for each member who solved it correctly. A maximum of 40 points could be earned on this part. Here is the list of Individual Problems and Solutions.

Part 2 consisted of five team problems. Each team earned four points for each correct answer. A maximum of 20 points could be earned on this part. Here is the list of Team Problems and Solutions.

Part 3 consisted of three relay questions. 4 points were given to teams who solved the relay in 3 minutes; 3 points for a 6-minute solution; 2 points for a 9-minute solution; 1 point for a 12-minute solution. Bonus points of 3, 2, 1 were given to the first, second, and third place team in each relay, respectively. Potentially, 21 points could be earned on this part. First place went to Houghton Central High School.
Second place went to Escanaba Area Public High School.
Third place went to A.D. Johnston Jr/Sr High School.

The first place individual was Rushil Kassetty from Escanaba Area Public High School.
The second place individual was Yvonne Wang from Houghton Central High School.
The third place individual was Shweta Pati from Houghton Central High School.
