The First Annual Upper Peninsula High School Math Challenge was held from 10:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. EST on Saturday 13 March 2010 at Northern Michigan University.

The contest was attended by 36 students on 9 teams representing the following 5 schools:

Munising High and Middle School, Munising Public Schools, Alger County, Michigan
Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, Lake Linden-Hubbell School District, Houghton County, Michigan
Calumet High School, Public Schools of Calumet, Houghton County, Michigan
Newberry High School, Tahquamenon Area Schools, Luce County, Michigan
Ishpeming High School, Ishpeming Public School District, Marquette County, Michigan

Part 1 consisted of ten individual problems. Each team earned a point on each problem for each member who solved it correctly. A maximum of 40 points could be earned on this part.

Part 2 consisted of five team problems. Each team earned four points for each correct answer. A maximum of 20 points could be earned on this part.

Part 3 consisted of relay questions. The relays did not contribute to the team score but were a way to kill time. Ishpeming won Relay 1. Newberry won Relay 2. Ishpeming won Relay 3.

The highest scoring individual was Mamiko Ozawa from Newberry.
Second place was Brian Ronquist from Newberry.
